i think we are almost ready.  we are camping this weekend with scouts.  this will be my first time.  i have certainly slept outside before, even in a tent.  i can assemble a tent by myself.  i can even build a fire (with a little luck and a lighter of course).  but none of that qualifies as camping.  this week i have learned about hobo dinner and hobo stew.  apparently steph and dad both know much more about this camping thing than i do.  but i’m ready.  i think.  we are on round two of tents.  dad gave us one but it has a hole (and it was REALLY ugly).  so i went to get steph’s (much better).  i assembled it in the garage yesterday to ensure that it had all of it’s parts and no holes.  it did and didn’t.  but what i did find is that it was not designed to be assembled by one person.  it is certainly a two person job.  i did manage to get it put up but i will not try that again.

i went to the store and picked up long johns (why that name?) for the boys and ended up buying an air mattress as well.  listen, it was a really good deal okay.  so good, in fact, that michael didn’t make me return it.  so there.  pumped it up.  no hole.  yay!!!  two no holes in a row.  called dad to see how many propane tanks i would need.  apparently he had already been to the store and picked them up.  as well as two of those toboggan face mask things and two head lamps and two glow sticks with lanyards and like a hundred hot hands hot body hot foot packs.  when i got over there last night he had a sleeping bag, two stoves, FOUR propane tanks, coveralls, a tarp, a lantern and two big blankets sitting out waiting for me.  i think he got a little excited.  did i mention it’s supposed to be 37° tomorrow night.

i was very ummmm…. apprehensive up until now.  i feel much better.  i think we have everything we need and michael and i are going to the grocery store tonight.  i think we are gonna have a great time.  i know the boys are gonna love it.  plus, we get to eat smores!  yum!  so wish me luck!
